This Is Not A “Big Tent” Issue

In my last post, I discussed a simple way to tell if someone is a bona fide Republican. Actually, it wasn't intended to be a discussion, it was meant to be a pithy if obvious observation – that any "Republican" who doesn't support Arizona and its new law regarding illegal immigrants isn't be one – a Republican, that is. One would hope that there aren't too many illegals in political positions, but then one never knows, does one?

But that's the point. Arizona drew a line in the sand, a position formerly occupied by the Rio Grande (Hey, I feel a poem coming on), and if you call yourself a Republican, you'd better be on our side of it. This is not a "big tent" issue, this is a "step up and be counted" issue, and you're either with us or against America.

Because Arizona did the right thing – period. And if we're right, and you're against us, you're wrong. And that's the least of it. Now you don't have to hope anything and everything related to Lindsay Graham dies, and I'm sorry I said that – because his pets and landscaping are innocent victims. My point was that Arizona has never been more right (and in line with American values) and Lindsay has never been more wrong – which is really saying something.

Anyone who is against Arizona is not an American I want to know – or even talk to, so debate is out of the question. And I do believe that Rush Limbaugh topped me today when he said that Obama was employing both Nazi and Communist tactics to divide the country. Of course he is. Obama isn't even hiding it. Where's Lindsay Graham decrying that?

I'm hoping that Arizona has made it possible for Wimp-Americans to stand up and be counted too, and to show that America still cherishes the values that made us the greatest country there has ever been – and possibly ever will be.

But first, we have to get back to where we were…

About tedwest

A longtime veteran of comedy and political forums, I decided that I needed a more restful venue because... well... I finally hate everybody. Except my wife that is... and my ex-wife.. and... no, that's about it. I lead about as simple a life as one can, preferring activities that include anything that doesn't involve going out and seeing YOU! And I particularly enjoy what I call "Get the Bitch" movies on Lifetime. You know the ones where the intended victim finally does something so incredibly stupid that she forfeits her right to live, and from that moment on you're rooting for the stalker. Of course, it rarely works out the way you want, but when it does, the feeling you get is... well, there's nothing else like it, other than, maybe, eating chocolate chip cookies. Oh, and I'm proudly anti-wildlife, both foreign and domestic, and anti-environment - especially foreign environments. I think Howard Stern put it best when he said, "If fifty percent of the population died tomorrow, I can live with that." And I feel the same about the other fifty percent, so together, we've pretty much got it all covered.

All my predictions when the Arizona law went down are materializing. If these brush fires erupt into a blaze, the Democrats are out and Herr Obama doomed in 2012 because the Supreme Court will NOT support him in any oppressive action to extinguish the flames. And that will be something to behold!

  2. TedWest says:

I hope you're right. The furor over the Az. law would seem to indicate that you are, but there are too many shocking statistics that give me pause – like the fact that Bobo's approval rating actually went up recently. How is it possible that 49% approve of the job he's doing? How is it possible that it's even in double digits?

  3. Waterbaby says:

I've wondered this as well (one must consider the poll of course; I favor Rasmussen, who has him today at 47-52). Factors to note: A certain percentage want socialism and/or a welfare state; some are still under the Messiah's spell; some think government IS the answer; some favor Obama's health care. Are these people awake and informed? Of course not. All of which proves once again what I've long said: People aren't that bright.

  4. TedWest says:

Speaking of not that bright, you see that "warning" line in my blog title? I put it there. Now I'll be darned if I know how to change it… And what do I want to put in it's place? Would you believe it's about brightness?!?

  5. TedWest says:

    Forget I said that.

  6. Waterbaby says:

Evidently you can change everything BUT the blurb beneath the blog title, I found no mechanism either! Dang it Vox! (p.s. you're a literate guy so "And what do I want to put in it's place?" — that's its (no apostrophe).)

  7. TedWest says:

I apologize for being obtuse once again. I found out how to do it and didn't say how.Below the blog title on the right you'll see: "Change Your Design." Click that and on the page that opens you'll see your title and the slogan below it (if you already have one. If not, put your cursor just below your title and the box turns yellow. Click it and you can type your new saying.Again, sorry.

  8. Darcy says:

    I like your new blurb.

  9. TedWest says:

Well, I was hoping for "that's sheer genius," but thanks.

  10. Darcy says:

Oh sorry, next time say so!

  11. TedWest says:

You know, you're absolutely right. It's so unlike me to not tell people how they should react.

  12. Darcy says:

Well, in your defense, you did tell me how to react. It's just that it was after the fact. But that's OK. I probably wouldn't do what you said anyway.
