In my last post, I discussed a simple way to tell if someone is a bona fide Republican. Actually, it wasn't intended to be a discussion, it was meant to be a pithy if obvious observation – that any "Republican" who doesn't support Arizona and its new law regarding illegal immigrants isn't be one – a Republican, that is. One would hope that there aren't too many illegals in political positions, but then one never knows, does one?
But that's the point. Arizona drew a line in the sand, a position formerly occupied by the Rio Grande (Hey, I feel a poem coming on), and if you call yourself a Republican, you'd better be on our side of it. This is not a "big tent" issue, this is a "step up and be counted" issue, and you're either with us or against America.
Because Arizona did the right thing – period. And if we're right, and you're against us, you're wrong. And that's the least of it. Now you don't have to hope anything and everything related to Lindsay Graham dies, and I'm sorry I said that – because his pets and landscaping are innocent victims. My point was that Arizona has never been more right (and in line with American values) and Lindsay has never been more wrong – which is really saying something.
Anyone who is against Arizona is not an American I want to know – or even talk to, so debate is out of the question. And I do believe that Rush Limbaugh topped me today when he said that Obama was employing both Nazi and Communist tactics to divide the country. Of course he is. Obama isn't even hiding it. Where's Lindsay Graham decrying that?
I'm hoping that Arizona has made it possible for Wimp-Americans to stand up and be counted too, and to show that America still cherishes the values that made us the greatest country there has ever been – and possibly ever will be.
But first, we have to get back to where we were…
