A Very Interesting Survey

There's not a lot that's encouraging about this Pew Survey, but that doesn't mean it isn't interesting…

Among the fun points? Biden has a lower initial approval rating than Cheney, and the numbers that show young people are every bit as stupid as you might think they are. OK, -I- might think they are. And I'm sure they would say the numbers just show they are more enthusiastic and optimistic… which is just another way of pointing out how naive and stupid they are.

About tedwest

A longtime veteran of comedy and political forums, I decided that I needed a more restful venue because... well... I finally hate everybody. Except my wife that is... and my ex-wife.. and... no, that's about it. I lead about as simple a life as one can, preferring activities that include anything that doesn't involve going out and seeing YOU! And I particularly enjoy what I call "Get the Bitch" movies on Lifetime. You know the ones where the intended victim finally does something so incredibly stupid that she forfeits her right to live, and from that moment on you're rooting for the stalker. Of course, it rarely works out the way you want, but when it does, the feeling you get is... well, there's nothing else like it, other than, maybe, eating chocolate chip cookies. Oh, and I'm proudly anti-wildlife, both foreign and domestic, and anti-environment - especially foreign environments. I think Howard Stern put it best when he said, "If fifty percent of the population died tomorrow, I can live with that." And I feel the same about the other fifty percent, so together, we've pretty much got it all covered.

    How about this one?

  2. TedWest says:

OK, I see your point, but ONLY 20%? Shouldn't that stat be 120%?

  3. Darcy says:

yes. I get the feeling they aren't asking the right people.

  4. TedWest says:

    Right, they're asking Americans!

  5. Darcy says:

More accurately, young Americans. Not many under 30 would know what a Socialist was until they were on their way to a re-education camp.

  6. TedWest says:

Oh that's good! You should do a nugget?

  7. Darcy says:

I don't have time… take it and run with it.

  8. TedWest says:

I don't have time either, I have twelve hours to stucco my pool wall, and half of those are dark!

  9. Darcy says:

Just think of the lovely golden tan you will have after the pool is finished. It will look great with your Jennifer Aniston hair. BTW, I'm still waiting for that picture you promised me.

  10. Jordan says:

Darcy, glad you are back. Ted has been "lonely" around here. πŸ˜‰

  11. TedWest says:

Here's a reply I wrote to that ultra idiot Jonathan, but then could see no value in posting it. I'd offer it to you Jordan, but you don't have the unique experience I have in being hated by everyone.
Also, I didn't want him to gain points from my futile effort…

You hold up public education as a model for healthcare?
I got in trouble years ago when I told conservatives that there was no excuse for the current system. Anyone who defends it has either never been without insurance or never been sick.
They really got angry when I told then that they'd better come up with a proposal to get people covered by the private sector, or their biggest fear, government healthcare, would become a reality. It probably didn't help that I called them all clowns, and foul-mouthed clowns at that.
Bush's health savings accounts were a great start, but the problem is the lack of competition which the Democrats are responsible for.
But conservatives did nothing, and if you think healthcare is bad now, just wait until it's government run.
Not only has it failed elsewhere, but once we have it, there'll be no turning back. We'll be trading a system that is every bit as bad as you described it for a system where everyone will have insurance – it's the treatment that will be sorely lacking.
Only the blind can't see that from here. Some entity will decide what treatment, if any, you'll get, and there will be little or no appeal. Since there will be no profit incentive, motivation of healthcare workers will depend largely on altruism – which has never worked.
But again, going back will be impossible, so what you get will be what you deserve. Unfortunately, I'll get it too, and I don't deserve it, because I'm not stupid enough to believe that good intentions will insure anything more than an enormous, impersonal bureaucracy and greater misery.
And you seem blind to immorality when it's being committed by liberals?
Of course we'll not hear about any of that because those same liberals and the media will do what they're doing for Obama now, and create a rosy facade to conceal incompetence and failure.
Although we won't have Canadians coming here for treatment, so it's no all bad, I guess.

  12. TedWest says:

The pool got finished, it will be all crapped over by pigeons by tomorrow at this time, and I'm totally exhausted and in pain. Plus I discovered that I am amazingly short of breath which I hope is due to the fact that I try to move as little as possible, but which is probably due primary pulmonary hypertension, so taking pictures isn't a high priority though I have no recollection of what you're referring to.

  13. Jordan says:

Ted,I think he's in dire need of reality check.. Post it anonymously. I don't mind the left's hatred. It just that it wouldn't be my material.Let me know.

  14. TedWest says:

I think he's a damn fool at best, and a bigoted, hateful little gnome at worst.
The truth is, there's something wrong with me. I don't want to be commenting on politics, but the more I read, the stronger the pull. I feel like an addict.
    I don't think I'll post it anonymously. I
m irritated with myself for taking the time to address someone in whom there's not a sliver of a chance of reaching.

  15. JudgeBob says:

As noted on my latest post, its not the hateful bigot you have to reach, its the bystanders. Allowing fools' challenges and charges to go unanswered is the greatest sin of the conservative.

  16. Jordan says:

Amen to that JB!!Ted, Go Aheahd!! Make his day!! Understand the feeling as I myself have too often wasted my breath, words and thoughts to communicate beliefs and was met with abundant foolishness. But, like JB said, you may not reach Jonathan. Someone else, reading it make "see the light."

  17. Darcy says:

Thanks Jordan, I'm glad to be home.

  18. JudgeBob says:

I like MyQute. She's open and thoughtful. Kind of refreshing to find that. 'Round here, that's a rare trait.

  19. TedWest says:

OK. But I'll tell you this, all my life I've stood up against morons, and I always end up taking it on the chin because people, like those conservatives you complain about, remain true to themselves. When the chips are down they're nowhere to be found. Remember the movie Hombre? That was Paul Newman starring in my life story.

  20. JudgeBob says:

I am one of those who has been reached. I am one of those now taking it on the chin alongside you. But I am also motivated to go on in swinging the scythe of truth regardless of the company cutting down the fantastical weeds and decimating peace with foolishness. I don't usually come out unscathed but the field is being lost to the wilderness.

  21. Darcy says:

A few well known voices on Fox News are also converts… Dick Morris, Dennis Miller… Maybe Greta. I'm not sure about her. I thought she was a liberal but she seems to have genuine admiration and empathy for Sarah Palin… There are clear but fleeting moments when even Geraldo seems to be coming 'round but he's still an idiot. Then there's Juan Williams who was actually making sense the other day. I thought I was dreaming so I watched the re-run. I don't think he is too pleased with the current state of things.

  22. Jordan says:

He (j. Williams) may not be pleased with the present state of affairs, but it irks me when I hear him repeat some of the same refuted fallacies. Agree about Greta. She covered the media's attacks on Palin very well. I am glad she gave NO interview to Palin's daughter ex-boyfriend. How stupid can you be? Even if I want to give him he benefit of the doubt, b/c of his age (though if he really appreciated what Gov. Palin went through he wouldn't be opening his mouth about private matter with the media) but when he goes on a let's-dig-some-dirt show like Tyra Banks, and his mother and sister are there is hard to believe they are THIS naive. More sensible to think they are out for fame and fortune.I lilked O'Reilly last week, beating down on a stupid liberal, about the torture memos' fiasco.Geraldo is the recepient of my best antipathies. I am not impressed with his alarmism style, nor his defense of liberals.Who's left? J/K

  23. Darcy says:

    Agreed with all you said.

  24. JudgeBob says:

Beck seems to be the most cognitive voice regularly scheduled TV. He may sound like an alarmist, but people, its time to ring the alarm. Texas Gov. is willing and trying to initiate secession. That's a voice Washington had better pay attention to. Another is the July 4th. demonstration to call Washington back to the authority of the Constitution. If the Tea People don't know it, they haven't been heard and had better not throw their momentum out the window.

  25. TedWest says:

I'm pleased to sat that I don't agree with anything since my last comment, and I'm not even sure I agree with that.
Gerald-O – NO, Greta – NO, Williams 0- a ya kiddin' me? I've seen all you have, and they are just doing their best to play to the Fox audience.
And O'Reilly? Why are those stupid liberals given a platform? So we can see how stupid they are? I need that?
Glenn Beck? He's a very well-intentioned nut. And I agree with most everything he says!

  26. JudgeBob says:

I see. You most identify with the nut, but not the stupid nuts.

  27. Jordan says:

Glenn Beck is a 'nut', but lately he has been very serious, because the present events require it.Then, there's the "love of my life"…(J/K) Rush Limbaugh!!

  28. TedWest says:

Yes… In case you haven't noticed, I'm nuts. The normal people made me that way!

Mine too. Limbaugh has no equal. All you have to do to identify whether someone is an idiot is ask him how he feels about Rush. You don't have to like Rush, but if you disagree with him on more than a few issues, you're an idiot.

  29. JudgeBob says:

Howard Zinn is a foolish nut, but not a stupid one. Rosie O' is a stupid nut and a foolish one. You may be a nut, but you're neither stupid nor foolish. Passionate, and passion will make you a target for the fools who are as passionate or more than you about their foolishness. My reference is Evan Sayet's speech on How Modern liberals think.

  30. TedWest says:

He must be mistaken. I've seen neither example nor evidence that modern liberals think.

  31. JudgeBob says:

hahaha. Remember, their Bible (All I Need to Know, I Learned in Kindergarten) reads like the Communist Manifesto. They may be intelligent and can use big words effectively but they are morally stunted all the way back to five year olds.

  32. A Liberal is someone who would conserve his money but have the government spend yours. Just look at the Ford and Rockefeller Foundation money as an example. πŸ˜‰

  33. Jordan says:

My take also. I prefer honest disagreement on issues, whether people like me or not.
