Chad Needs A Boost

BloggersBase – they're in the home stretch in Politics

At 5:30am EST, Chad has just gone from first to third with less than six hours to go in the competition - two tenths of a point out of first. If you can, give him a vote that's higher than his present score on each of the following.

Needless to say, if you can't justify a higher vote, please don't vote at all.

About tedwest

A longtime veteran of comedy and political forums, I decided that I needed a more restful venue because... well... I finally hate everybody. Except my wife that is... and my ex-wife.. and... no, that's about it. I lead about as simple a life as one can, preferring activities that include anything that doesn't involve going out and seeing YOU! And I particularly enjoy what I call "Get the Bitch" movies on Lifetime. You know the ones where the intended victim finally does something so incredibly stupid that she forfeits her right to live, and from that moment on you're rooting for the stalker. Of course, it rarely works out the way you want, but when it does, the feeling you get is... well, there's nothing else like it, other than, maybe, eating chocolate chip cookies. Oh, and I'm proudly anti-wildlife, both foreign and domestic, and anti-environment - especially foreign environments. I think Howard Stern put it best when he said, "If fifty percent of the population died tomorrow, I can live with that." And I feel the same about the other fifty percent, so together, we've pretty much got it all covered.

  1. I signed up & am wating for their email to activate my account.

  2. TedWest says:

LOL! Welcome to the fight, Rick!

  3. Darcy says:

It's pretty rough over there, Zak. The right thinkers are running the show and the trolls are hanging out in the dark voting everybody down.

  4. I published "A Credit Worthy Society" on bloggersbase.

  5. TedWest says:

In the trolls' defense, that's what we were doing when we first got there!

  6. TedWest says:

And can you believe that Joel is still posting about Virginia as if nothing has changed?

  7. Darcy says:

Yes we were! My how times have changed. Besides, who cares about Virginia? Except my cousin Ed, who's married to Virginia!

  8. Darcy says:

Way to go Zak, I'll go vote you up!

  9. Darcy says:

I didn't see you. I'll look again in the morning. If you look over on the left side there is a "top readers" link. Ted and I are both on page 4. If you "friend" us we can friend you back and it makes it lots easier to find you.

  10. Darcy says:

Well, duh. I could have followed the link you just posted here. You are in Business and Finance. I found it 😉

  11. TedWest says:

    Zak,
I certainly commend you for your effort, I just wish you'd taken it slower, and here's why…
On the top of each category, there's a graph showing how much time is left in the current week's contest, and each category has a different time and/or day.
In your category, the contest ends in nine hours from now. Unfortunately, you need at least 12 hours for your vote to show. Right now, you'll see it just says 'pending."
So you won't see your vote until after the contest ends, and because you posted it now, it will not apply to next week's contest. So I voted for you, but it will only be good for the record, although there is apparently some small effect on later posts, but the system is inexplicable for the most part,
And be aware that multiple posts are better than one good one as ridiculous as that may seem.

  12. TedWest says:

    Zak,
    A couple of tips if I may…
    1) Spell check
    2) Vinegar stops itching better than anything else I've found.

  13. K- didn't think about the contest time rules.

  14. TedWest says:

I hope you come up with something for next week which, so we're clear, starts tomorrow, and you're smart not to choose politics. That's brutal. But think in multiples if you are really serious about winning, and considering what I'm coping with now, it's best to have one in reserve just in case.

  15. Darcy says:

Zak,you can also take a long post and break it up. part 1, part 2, etc.

  16. Jordan says:

Yeah, Zak and if you are in our "favorite blogger" section, everytime you post we get notif of it.

  17. TedWest says:

Damn, I didn't even realize that!

  18. Darcy says:

Yep. I'm about to drop Martin the ever Willing from my favorite bloggers list because I'm tired of getting an e-mail every time he posts. Besides, now we have Zak in Bus. & Finance. Who needs Martin?

  19. Darcy, Let me be the one who bombards your in box with emails! 😉

  20. Darcy says:

O.K. Zak, you are much better looking 😉

  21. TedWest says:

    I'm with you, Darcy.
I apologize for not adding you as a friend, Zak, I've been severely preoccupied.

  22. TedWest says:

Hold on a minute, I got to thinking, why do we have to stop being friends with Martin? I mean, I have multiple friends in Politics? I know we originally made friends out of sympathy, and I'm irritated that I commented on once of his stinkin' posts and he didn't acknowledge me, and he kept posting that insipid millimeter crap, which was way more annoying than getting emails about his business posts, but other than that, I can't think of a good reason to drop him.
Although I must confess that I like the feeling of power that comes from the word "drop." Like we're a syndicate and he's a lowly columnist.

  23. TedWest says:

Darcy, look what you started. No sooner did I post the last comment than I went to my BB and saw I had a new comment on my coffee post. Guess who?
And here I am talking about dropping the guy? I'm so ashamed that I may offer to send him some fruit and he'll probably be rude enough to accept it.

  24. TedWest says:

I just discovered a new scoring quirk… your score is affected by your own comments. I noticed that my score went up last night significantly, but my score for the most recent post hasn't displayed yet.
I also know from watching other posters who shall remain nameless that their scores did not advance from a new pending post,
The only difference is that a number of people commented on my latest post and I replied to all of them – because I felt they were worth replying to.
As further proof, I noticed that a person who shall not be named had a contest score increase tonight, but the individual posts had not moved. How to explain that, I wondered?
I looked at each post and found the poster had replied to his comments, five in all, in rapid succession just a short time ago.
I shall now return to my posts and comment to all others awaiting replies, and I will report back with the results.

  25. TedWest says:

Yes! I commented to two people, and my score went up a tenth. Another Super Mario moment!

  26. Darcy says:

Well forever more! This scoring system is so complicated!! Yes, I have noticed lots of nameless commenting all over the place. I too was a little irritated that Martin never acknowledged me even though I commented nicely several times on his posts. But beware, you could get into trouble by commenting too freely. They may be setting you up! Poor Martin. He probably does like fruit.

  27. TedWest says:

WOW, I don't believe I've ever seen you like this! It's nice to know you have a breaking point too!

  28. TedWest says:

It seems clear now that is you comment on something with which you disagree, you are actually giving it a chance to go higher, since it's the case when the person who wrote the post responds, he's increasing his own score.
In other words, it's important to comment on posts you like, and to refrain from comment on posts you dislike – that's some great idea they have at BB for stimulating the exchange of ideas!

  29. Darcy says:

Oh, well, get me all hyped up on coffee and you never know what's going to come out of my mouth, err aaa– keyboard.
