Oklahoma, Where The Wind Comes Sweepin’ Down The Plain

Who would ever have thought that Oklahoma would be the State to show us a way out of looming socialism? We pick up the story from that mainstream media outlet, WorldNetDaily:

The Oklahoma House of Representatives passed House Joint Resolution 1003 Feb. 18 by a wide margin, 83 to 13, resolving, "That the State of Oklahoma hereby claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States."

The language of HJR 1003 further serves notice to the federal government "to cease and desist, effectively immediately, mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers."

The sponsor of the resolution, state Rep. Charles Key, told WND the measure was a 'big step toward addressing the biggest problem we have in this country – the federal government violating the supreme law of the land."

For the rest of us, this couldn't come sooner, ha-ha.

About tedwest

A longtime veteran of comedy and political forums, I decided that I needed a more restful venue because... well... I finally hate everybody. Except my wife that is... and my ex-wife.. and... no, that's about it. I lead about as simple a life as one can, preferring activities that include anything that doesn't involve going out and seeing YOU! And I particularly enjoy what I call "Get the Bitch" movies on Lifetime. You know the ones where the intended victim finally does something so incredibly stupid that she forfeits her right to live, and from that moment on you're rooting for the stalker. Of course, it rarely works out the way you want, but when it does, the feeling you get is... well, there's nothing else like it, other than, maybe, eating chocolate chip cookies. Oh, and I'm proudly anti-wildlife, both foreign and domestic, and anti-environment - especially foreign environments. I think Howard Stern put it best when he said, "If fifty percent of the population died tomorrow, I can live with that." And I feel the same about the other fifty percent, so together, we've pretty much got it all covered.

We also have some of the strictest illegal alien laws in the country AND we were the reddest state in the nation last time 'round. I've heard many speculate on whether the two are related.

Hurrah!! May other states follow their lead.I heard the other day that in Michigan, I believe, gun owner will have to carry 1 million dollar insurance. Now, that's not a way to outlaw guns. By all means, nosir!

The most important issue on my mind is citrus!

  4. Jordan says:

Now I am confused. A rare occurrence.

  5. Darcy says:

Ted's got fruit on the brain. I can almost smell it now.

  6. TedWest says:

Jordan, I was referring to the fact that it's citrus season in Az, and that means I'm about to experience that magnificent "foul stench" Lexann referred to in c2c, which itself is a foul stench, so she may have been confused herself!
Btw, I'm outraged at myself. The shift key on this keyboard doesn't work if I don't press it hard, and I never talked to India about getting it replaced! That's why "Harry" was not in caps elsewhere.
