Ted’s Shorts

Today's theme is… genius.

Thomas Sowell says that liberals have found a new right – the right to win. What he means is that they unilaterally decide their cause, their issue, their candidate is superior, and so even if they lose in a fair and square election, it's not over until they prevail by whatever means necessary.

Greg Gutfeld on the Fox show Red Eye talks about al Qaeda committing the ultimate blunder – they directed a racial slur at Obama. They also slurred Powell and Rice at the same time, but who cares about black Republicans, I sure don't. However, by calling Obama a "house Negro?" Gutfeld says that mistake finally makes it OK for liberals to support the war on terror. And the editor of the American Spectator, whose name I didn't get, added that it was a shame Al Qaeda decided to "go negative."

Ann Coulter notes that Obama is the first president-elect to have his own "Office of the President-elect" seal commissioned, and that even if you don't like the president-elect, you should at least respect the office of the presidency-elect. She adds that historians have named Obama the "best president-elect ever." And speaking of historians…

Don Imus ambushed historian Michael Beschloss who said on Imus' program that Obama has the highest IQ of any president. Imus then asked innocently, "What is his IQ?" When Beschloss tried to brush past the question by reiterating that Obama was very, very smart, Imus asked him again what Obama's IQ was. The frustrated liberal dope had to admit that he didn't know.

And speaking of liberal dopes (am I being redundant?), here's something that so stupid it's brilliant. We return to Greg Gutfeld's Red Eye for the story. It seems that Whoopi Goldberg, did battle with a teleprompter (originally made famous but the Prime Idiot, Obama, who couldn't leave home without it) when she came upon the words "black suffrage" while reading. Goldberg, being even dumber than you could ever have imagined, and that's really saying something, had no idea what "suffrage" meant. But never fear, the other idiot, the one who thought the Earth was flat, rushed to her aid, saying that she supposed it referred to all the trials and tribulations blacks had to go through for so long to get their right to vote. If you're shocked by that, don't worry, "trials and tribulations" were my words. I'm sure they'd be far too complex for What's-her-name.

That kinda makes Corey seem almost cognizant by comparison. If you disagree, you're worse than Timothy.

And to think liberals are upset by the Zogby poll which showed they were as ignorant of their candidate as they are about… well… pretty much everything else.

All this talk about genius makes me kinda wish that Mensa nut would return…

Finally, have you noticed how liberals are literally begging that we hold our criticism and give Obama a chance? I've heard it on Fox, and I heard it yesterday on Sean Hannity's radio program to name two recent occurrences. I was yelling at Hannity to ask the seemingly very nice black woman if she'd done the same for President Bush, but he ignored me. So I yelled louder for him to ask her about her feelings for Condoleeza Rice, and again, Hannity ignored me. Then he gave her tickets to his tour next summer. I got the message, Sean.

About tedwest

A longtime veteran of comedy and political forums, I decided that I needed a more restful venue because... well... I finally hate everybody. Except my wife that is... and my ex-wife.. and... no, that's about it. I lead about as simple a life as one can, preferring activities that include anything that doesn't involve going out and seeing YOU! And I particularly enjoy what I call "Get the Bitch" movies on Lifetime. You know the ones where the intended victim finally does something so incredibly stupid that she forfeits her right to live, and from that moment on you're rooting for the stalker. Of course, it rarely works out the way you want, but when it does, the feeling you get is... well, there's nothing else like it, other than, maybe, eating chocolate chip cookies. Oh, and I'm proudly anti-wildlife, both foreign and domestic, and anti-environment - especially foreign environments. I think Howard Stern put it best when he said, "If fifty percent of the population died tomorrow, I can live with that." And I feel the same about the other fifty percent, so together, we've pretty much got it all covered.

Yep. I noticed too, how liberals' new mantra is "give O a chance."Fact is every appointment he is made thus far give us (but not them) an insight into the man he was is and is to come on Jan 9th.These idiots have a lot in common with the Germans who elected Hitler as their Furher!Passionately agree that liberals who never gave President Bush a chance and who never gave him credit for all the positives he brought to the country, expect us to forgo all that we know about Barack and be dumb, Not a chance.

  5. TedWest says:

"These idiots have a lot in common with the Germans"
It's what I've been saying for the better part of this year. We have better checks than Germany did in the '30s, but only if actual people in Congress are willing to step up. And of course, we have Germany as a lesson. People may not know much history, but most know they don't want another Nazi Germany.
But if I sound optimistic, you've read me wrong.

  6. Jordan says:

Obamania has swept the country, wait, the world. Everywhere one turns effigies of him are popping up.Too many have been duped. However, if it sounds negative, it is.

  7. TedWest says:

    Interesting you should mention that…

  8. Jeff D says:

As we keep agreeing to bail out every industry, union and soon individual under the sun the German reference gets better and better. The only way to pay for it all is by just printing money (I speak figuratively, not literally since it's mainly an electronic transaction these days) or by selling Treasury securities which currently pay negative interest (and which, tellingly, people are buying the second they are offered for sale.)Does anyone see inflation in our future? I'm just hoping it's not Weimar Republic/Zimbabwe style inflation.

  9. TedWest says:

Inflation in our future? I didn't even see you in my future.
But about runaway inflation, Sure, why not? I mean I never thought I' could be ruined twice in the same decade, so why not go for the trifecta?

  10. Jeff D says:

We live in interesting times. Been away for a while, sorry about that. Had to rail on the NC State message board about bailouts and how monumentally stupid they are. Got a similar response to your "Bush is a traitor" comment from all but a few. Good times! Also the real world has been intervening. Wife got laid off (which is a good thing, she hated that job anyways) and the startup I'm with has been ramping up so i haven't been on Vox much at all.

  11. Darcy says:

Interesting times indeed. Hang on and buckle your seat belt. We are going to be experiencing turbulence for the next four years.

  12. Jeff D says:

Darcy, you and I were in the same boat back in 2000. Not fun. I ended up taking the only job I could find. It paid the bills but I couldn't wait to move on to something better (which ended up being grad school.)

  13. TedWest says:

Nice to talk to both of you again. You're my two favorite people here because you talk straight and don't seem to be encumbered by religion and ideology.
OK, so I don't know if I can beat both of you, but we've lost huge amounts in retirement funds and home equity. We're not threatened short-term, but that only holds if prices do.
Luckily, my wife is an environmental chemist. Sadly, she may have to do that a lot longer than planned.

  14. Darcy says:

Back in 2000, that was the year my son was born. I had a new baby, a two year old, no job, no insurance, my husband was teaching school and lost his job. Then he had a medical emergency. Then it started going downhill from there. I decided to take one of my original quilts to the local quilt store to try to convince them that I could teach classes. I literally had a kid on each hip. They told me that if I could turn the quilt into a pattern, they would buy the patterns. That is what started my life as an author.

  15. TedWest says:

Yours is a great story. I had ambition once, but now, I think I'd just lay down and die – I've seen enough.

  16. Your story is the greatest inspiration of my life!

  17. Darcy says:

Oh come on now, we'll hear none of that kind of talk.

  18. TedWest says:

    Darcy,
You're gonna hear a lot of talk you haven't heard from me before. But I don't mean to imply that I've given up on life, far from it.I only mean that there is nothing more I need to see other than my wife's face,

  19. Darcy says:

Your wife is lucky to have you. And you her.

  20. Jeff D says:

Ted, I have no idea how old you are except that you're older than I am, so I'll have to ask you the same question I asked my parents. If you are retired or close to retired, why were you invested in any kind of instrument that held stocks? As time goes on you should steadily be moving money into bonds and cash. By 60 the idea is to keep what you have, not make more. Of course I did this for a living, so what I take as second nature clearly isn't for people who didn't hear daily tales of woe from 2000-2002.

  21. TedWest says:

    Jeff,
Thanks for the advice. now if I can just get my hands on a time machine…
But seriously, mutual funds are what was recommended, and since we're still putting money in, it should still work out. However, I would never advise anyone to invest in stocks now no matter how old they are. Put your money in CDs and don't spend a dime you don't have to.
But of course even CDs are worthless if the chaos gets worse.
    Darcy,
I'll tell my wife you said that because occasionally she forgets, and I can't imagine why since I'm so easy going…

  22. Jeff D says:

I agree, hindsight being 20/20 and all that. I have a decent chunk of cash in an INGDirect account. Better rates than a bank saving account and their CDs aren't too bad either (3.75% for a 12 month right now.)I don't think we're close to a bottom in the market. I think Dow 7000 is the spot I'd consider moving back in. I have friends who think 6000 and I can't mount a strong argument against them.

  23. TedWest says:

    Jeff,
That beats my worst case number which is zero, so I hope you're right.
As for CDs, you can get 3.75 almost anywhere. I could have gotten 4.35 a month ago and hesitated, now the best I can see is 4.2.
Oh wait, you're talking IRAs? Yeah, why is it that IRA CDs are much lower than regular ones?

  24. Thomas Sowell says that liberals have found a new right – the right to win.
Thomas Sowell or Sean Hannity or Ann Coulter do not know the difference between a liberal and a socialist. If that is where you get your education…then we are truly in bad shape. Why not go to Air America to educate yourself about what it means to be a conservative.

  25. "We all know that the term “liberal” is synonymous with the party of the Democrats. And conversely, the term “conservative” is synonymous with the Republican party." Diane Ewertz Mostly in the mind of partisan political hacks in the print media, AM radio talking heads, and proffessors on campus. Tolerance, free trade, limited government, individual freedom, enjoy the fruits of one's own labor, and similiar concepts in the U.S. Constitution are core principles of liberalism and what it means to be a liberal. These values do not belong to a political party. You could argue for John Loke and Thomas Jefferson… a couple of dopes?

  26. This is what I tried to post before..more or less, regarding liberal dopes. Which is mostly in the mind of partisan political hacks in the print media, AM radio (Sean Hannity), and partisan professors on campus. Tolerance, free trade, limited government, individual freedom, the natural right enjoy the fruits of one's own labor and the natural right to protect one's person and property and similar concepts in the U.S. Constitution are core principles of liberalism. These values do not belong to a political party…especially the Democrat Party. You might argue for John Loke or Thomas Jefferson… a couple of liberal dopes. And, the point of this post is not many people have the slightest idea about what it means to be a liberal or liberalism. Because of a poor education system and those who want to rewrite history in their own image for pure political purpose.

If Obama is a dope, than George Bush must be downright retarded.
