The Sub-Headline Of The Day

"Mess with Obama, and you'll never plumb in this town again." – James Taranto

But get a load of this, from the Associated Press:

"Joe," whose name is Samuel J. Wurzelbacher, was cited repeatedly in Wednesday night's final presidential debate by McCain for questioning Barack Obama's tax policy.

Joe isn't his real name! How can he be a common man with a snooty name like Samuel? And that middle initial J probably stands for Hussein or something. Oh, wait, never mind. According to the Courier Mail of Brisbane, Australia, his full name is "Samuel Joseph (Joe) Wurzelbacher." Joe is a nickname for Joseph. Just like that guy from Scranton.

And this…

It's all a bit reminiscent of the frenzied attacks on Sarah Palin in the first few weeks after John McCain nominated her–except that Palin at least is seeking political office, and thus can expect to be subjected to some degree of scrutiny. Wurzelbacher is just a private citizen who had the temerity to question the policy proposals of the media's anointed candidate.

About tedwest

A longtime veteran of comedy and political forums, I decided that I needed a more restful venue because... well... I finally hate everybody. Except my wife that is... and my ex-wife.. and... no, that's about it. I lead about as simple a life as one can, preferring activities that include anything that doesn't involve going out and seeing YOU! And I particularly enjoy what I call "Get the Bitch" movies on Lifetime. You know the ones where the intended victim finally does something so incredibly stupid that she forfeits her right to live, and from that moment on you're rooting for the stalker. Of course, it rarely works out the way you want, but when it does, the feeling you get is... well, there's nothing else like it, other than, maybe, eating chocolate chip cookies. Oh, and I'm proudly anti-wildlife, both foreign and domestic, and anti-environment - especially foreign environments. I think Howard Stern put it best when he said, "If fifty percent of the population died tomorrow, I can live with that." And I feel the same about the other fifty percent, so together, we've pretty much got it all covered.

  1. They are attacking "Joe" because he has a tax lien?! I like him for that alone! Go Joe go Joe!!!

  2. TedWest says:

    LOL! I agree.
They are also attacking him because he's not licensed. OK, Would they have preferred he says "I work at plumbing?" It's Palinesque!

  3. Question authority and criticize government or politicians? Get attacked by Obama's cronies.

  4. TedWest says:

The other day I said that if Obama walked through a McCain crowd, that is if he didn't float above them, at worst he hear a sarcastic remark. but that film circulating shows what happens to McCain supporters just walking down the street – and now this.

It continues to amaze me, though I'm not entirely surprised, that the "media" has all the time, energy and budget to chase down stuff like this rather than dig into what's really important. Say, the background of the actual candidate? But if there is no more history than he has, I guess that would be a short trip through actual experience worth promoting.

I'm as amazed as you are, and it shows the depth of corruption in media. We can't assume that anything we read is true, and the tragedy is that I don't care what side you're on (liberals don't believe their own media), no one ever expected this in America. And what's even worse is that by now, you'd think some group of people in the media would have stood up to demand a restoration of integrity, but instead, we keep being stunned by new and bigger examples of outlandish media behavior – as the "scrutiny" of Joe the Plumber spotlights.
