Globally Warming The Psychiatrist’s Couch

An article out of Australia today reminds us that when it comes to "global warming" hysteria, as bad as is from the likes of Al Gore & Co. here, the United States is actually the most grounded. That, of course, isn't saying much for us, but it says a lot more about the amazing idiots elsewhere.

So before going further, it might be helpful to examine the evidence for "global warming" in order to understand what we're dealing with. As you know, the UN, the media, and virtually all governments have accepted global warming as fact, and they have done so based on the following…

Nothing. There is no evidence whatsoever that any warming, if it is happening, is due to anything humans are doing or have done. So when you hear about some "fact," and you see all the warmalarmist clowns nod in agreement, you know they are either lying, they're ignorant, or they're mindlessly following others because it fits what they want to believe.

What passes for evidence to these sorts of people is either anecdotal or unproven. Someone runs a test, creates a "model," or simply "observes" something, and when they get the results they want, voilĂ , it's officially warmer than it was before. It doesn't matter that the tests and models themselves are inaccurate at best or that "before" is arbitrary, the results are good enough for them, and as one local climate fool said, the models are getting better all the time. That's just how stupid they are…

"Getting better" means the current ones are worthless. They are either accurate or they aren't. And they aren't, period.

Rational people know this: that if the Earth does warm, we'll deal with it – as needed. That means, even if we could control the climate, unless it's that air-conditioned Earthdome I've talked about before, someone is going to be unhappy. Somewhere, the newly-controlled climate is going to affect someone adversely – just as the current uncontrolled climate does. And who would you trust to control your climate for you? I mean you'd don'[t even like where your spouse sets the thermostat, right?

Not to mention that some affects of any warming would be desirable, and some of them highly so.

So the only way a warmer future is bad is if you believe the nuts (or you're one yourself), who say that warming will be catastrophic. Then the enormous taxes and higher prices and the restrictions they want to impose on you now look great in comparison. That article from Australia puts it nicely:

Here is Prime Minister Kevin Rudd yesterday, with his own apocalyptic vision: "If we do not begin reducing the nation's levels of carbon pollution, Australia's economy will face more frequent and severe droughts, less water, reduced food production and devastation of areas such as the Great Barrier Reef and Kakadu wetlands."

And here is a senior Sydney Morning Herald journalist aghast at the horrors described in the report on global warming released on Friday by Rudd's guru, Professor Ross Garnaut: "Australians must pay more for petrol, food and energy or ultimately face a rising death toll . . ."

Wow. Pay more for food or die. Is that Rudd's next campaign slogan?

The question is, how did such idiots get in to a position of power and influence? You understand that even if they're right in their predictions, the only sensible way to deal with events is when they are identifiable and imminent. Otherwise, we're battling windmills, and we have no idea whether any measures we take will be effective. Or worse – necessary. I don't know about you, but I'd rather be wrong about warming than to have paid a huge price for nothing and given up freedoms and then I find out I'm a sucker.

If you read the article, you'll find that it's not just another rant about how warmalarmists should be transported to another planet where they can create an environment to their liking, it's about a new phenomenon in which the nuts the alarmists have influenced think catastrophe is already a given and they are living in abject fear of turning on the spigot tomorrow and having nothing come out.

I'm not surprised. I've been asking for a decade, "Where have the adults gone?" it's not just that everything is geared to youth, it's that everything is now geared to the irresponsible. They want people to be teenagers forever and an enormous number of chronological adults are only too happy to accommodate them. If you doubt that, all you have to do is watch a Diamondbacks game. I can't imagine what my father would say if he saw people in idiotic costumes and they were in the stands, not on the field.

So it's only natural that if people can't think – and even the best liberal here can't, neuroses and psychoses will follow. Superstition easily supplants reason and order, and as usual, it's the intelligent, rational people who pay the biggest price because they remain aware and are powerless against the insanity. And the worst part of all is that any actions taken will almost certainly be worthless.

If we assume the world is warming, and that man is a factor, it would still take all of mankind to make a difference, preferably by dying, I feel certain the alarmists would say.

On the other hand, we're now seeing the real results of a real crisis in energy which, to the chagrin of other idiots here, is already adversely affecting the prices of everything and changing the way people live, and it will only get worse unless more oil and alternative fuel sources are found as quickly as possible.

Yet what are the same people who believe that warming is the scourge of mankind doing about a real crisis?

Nothing. Truth be told, they want you to suffer. They don't care what price you pay if we emerge at some point, either by improved technology or reduced population, from this mental soup they've conjured up and the world is suddenly verdant and green. That's right, they are two different but complimentary things in the eyes of the warmalarmists – soon to be the proud I-told-you-so-ers when all the world is "free" There'll be bluebirds over Dover and tombstones over Rover. And the human cost will just be a price that had to be paid to save the world for your grandchildren… assuming you were one of the lucky ones

Interestingly, the article notes a India's plan in which "India would rather save its people from poverty than global warming, and would not cut growth to cut gases."

Well, at least that answers one question – Where have all the adults gone? They've gone to India every one.

About tedwest

A longtime veteran of comedy and political forums, I decided that I needed a more restful venue because... well... I finally hate everybody. Except my wife that is... and my ex-wife.. and... no, that's about it. I lead about as simple a life as one can, preferring activities that include anything that doesn't involve going out and seeing YOU! And I particularly enjoy what I call "Get the Bitch" movies on Lifetime. You know the ones where the intended victim finally does something so incredibly stupid that she forfeits her right to live, and from that moment on you're rooting for the stalker. Of course, it rarely works out the way you want, but when it does, the feeling you get is... well, there's nothing else like it, other than, maybe, eating chocolate chip cookies. Oh, and I'm proudly anti-wildlife, both foreign and domestic, and anti-environment - especially foreign environments. I think Howard Stern put it best when he said, "If fifty percent of the population died tomorrow, I can live with that." And I feel the same about the other fifty percent, so together, we've pretty much got it all covered.

OK. so I am a liberal. I think a lot of people know that but unlike many liberals, I do not buy the theory of global warming lock stock and barrel. I think that it an unproven idea that needs to be weighed on the merits of scietific investigation done on both sides of the issue. I refuse to discount the science that either side proposes. You have to look at both sides to come to a logical conclusion.
I know plenty of dems that are ready to plan their funerals because they are convinced that in a couple oof decades we will all be dead. Hell, I know a couple that is refusing to have kids because they think it will die from global warming. When I asked them if they had actually researched the phenomenon, they said they didn't need to because every scientist on the planet had already proven it was true. What!?!?! I was shocked, not by global warming but by their complete lack of knowledge.
People are living as children. They allowing the mass media to be their parents and tell them what to think and feel. The far left is just as bad as the far right – both live in worlds of propaganda and refuse to look for actual knowledge.
Where have all the adults gone???

Katie, let it never be said that I don't appreciate a great comment from wherever it emanates, and yours was positively enjoyable even if I would quibble with the far right being as bad as the far left. I'd actually like to know to whom you were referring on the right as there is the slightest possibility I might agree?
As for children, I never had them for a sort of similar reason – I too was fearful. I was worried about what they'd encounter from liberals… and now it would appear my fears were justified. Although I must admit that Bush and McCain haven;t exactly assuaged my concerns, I can't hold them responsible for my not having kids. But they have certainly reinforced my decision.
As for the adults, you can find them fairly easily – buy a Dell computer and then call customer service…
